Turns out one of the pistons in my brake caliper decided it didn’t want to play nice anymore. Oh well. Now the car is
ready for some canyon/
mountain runs again.
On a brighter note, the San Diego shop I went to previously specialized in Datsun Zs. Lucky for me, there we re some hanging around today!

I followed one of those turbo z’s for a bit on the way home today - had studded tires on the back and was having difficulty with whole manual transmission thing. But it was clean and sounded nice.

A Z with studded tires sounds like a wonderful time.

You know it ...because you told me about it in the first place. So thanks again! Was able to hit some great spots while I was in AZ.

It's interesting to me the thought of going to a shop on a road trip. Just never even occurred to me. I had packed every tool that I owned in my miata along with about 8 quarts of oil for the 4-5000 mile journey. The possibilities seem so limitless with a full on sedan! Thankfully the only maintenance I ended up doing (aside from active oil swap via attrition) was a light bulb near the beginning and some weight reduction via road debris.

I just don't have faith in the scissor jacks tbh.

That’s why I brought a low profile floor jack

It’s a wonder the things you can fit when you dispose of a spare tire! Plus I was moving and it was too expensive to ship heavy stuff like that so it made sense to transport my floor jack and jack stands regardless if I could see any use for them during the trip. And I camped all but two of the nights on the trip so my miata was very well tetris-ed. I feel like I have gone soft now, I always take the Subaru camping because it's easier. But I've still gotten in a couple of miata camping trips in Cali at least.
